Recovered from the dark corners of a library, this lost and forgotten book is now available for the first time in our generation. Students of the renowned missionary James Hudson Taylor have a new resource at their fingertips. This publication aims to strengthen and inspire both those already familiar with Taylor and those just beginning to discover his legacy.
Throughout the generations, missionaries have looked to James Hudson Taylor as a spiritual guide and pioneer in missionary work. This collection offers valuable insights into the inward joy and power that Taylor embodied, allowing readers to delve into the principles that guided his life. Regarded as the most influential figure in the modern missionary movement, Taylor revolutionized the approach to missionary work, inspiring countless others to live among and work closely with the people they served.
The tremendous growth of the church in China can be attributed in part to the trailblazing efforts of James Hudson Taylor. Over a span of 51 years, from 1832 to 1905, Taylor dedicated himself to preaching and teaching in China. Unlike other missionaries who imposed Western culture along with the gospel, Taylor embraced Chinese customs, language, and traditions. He established the China Inland Mission in 1865 with a vision to reach all eighteen provinces of China with the Gospel. Under his leadership, the mission sent out over 800 missionaries to start 300 stations across all provinces, leading to the establishment of 125 schools and the conversion of over 18,000 Chinese individuals.
We hope that rediscovering this invaluable resource will reignite a passion for the remarkable life and vision of James Hudson Taylor, encouraging readers to appreciate his boldness and enduring impact.
