James Hudson Taylor, born in 1832 and passing away in 1905, was a pioneering missionary to China. At the age of 21, he embarked on a mission to the closed empire of China. In 1860, Taylor returned to England due to health issues but continued to carry a heavy burden for the millions of people in inland China who had not yet been introduced to Christ. Despite the opening of the empire to Westerners, Taylor struggled to find a mission organization that would send him back. Eventually, in 1865, he took matters into his own hands and established the China Inland Mission. His prayer was for God to send twenty-four devoted and skilled workers, two for each unreached province in China. In 1866, Taylor and his team set sail for China, relying solely on faith and prayer for their financial support. By 1895, Taylor had successfully led a team of 641 missionaries, making up about half of the entire Protestant missionary force in China. His impact was profound, as he spread the gospel to a vast population and established numerous Christian churches throughout the region. The 30-Day Devotional Treasuries series also includes works by other influential Christian figures, such as Charles Finney on Spiritual Power, George Muller on Faith, Andrew Murray on Holiness, Charles Spurgeon on Prayer, Hudson Taylor on Spiritual Secrets, and R.A. Torrey on the Holy Spirit. These devotional books offer insights into the spiritual lives and journeys of these individuals, providing inspiration and guidance for readers seeking to deepen their own faith.
